Holly Hunter is a well-known American actor, producer and director. Her work has been recognized for movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. Her film Piano won her an Oscar. Early on her acclaimed actress started acting on stage in a number of Broadway or Off-Broadway productions. She is a lover of acting since she started high school. The first time she appeared in a show in the fifth grade was Helen Keller. She was born deaf in the one ear following a bout of Mumps, but she didn't allow this handicap to hinder her desire to be an actor. In her teens she studied drama, and eventually moved in New York City. Hunter was able to make her Broadway debut following an unplanned conversation in the company of Beth Henley, a playwright. Together, they wrote in Broadway Crimes of the Heart. After moving into Los Angeles she tried to get film roles and bagged the role of a co-star in Swing Shift. For the past 30 years Holly Hunter has been on many TV and film shows. Holly Hunter won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
